After a traumatic event I was suffering with depression and anxiety toward being outside. It was recommended to me that I should get a dog which could help ease my anxiety. After months of searching, my sister who adopted a dog from Furbae got in contact with them. She described what type of dog I would need and they went through and found a dog that fit the requirements. He’s name was Hedley, which I changed to Legolas AKA Legs. As he was a bigger dog he could not get on planes within Canada so over phone I spoke to Laura to confirm that I wanted him and was willing to take him with a backup plan should anything go wrong, as I live in Halifax where they do not have a base set up. After confirming that I would take him they worked with my family so that I could get him, which entailed flying him to Montreal and my mom driving him across to Halifax. Since getting him, things for me have improved as he gives me a reason to get up in the mornings and to leave my apartment. He is calm and can sense when I’m not in a great space and helps me push through it enough that I can continue. Everyone who meets him loves him as he is a unique character. Being in Halifax he experienced many new things such as the snow which he now starting to love but is still unsure about as it’s cold on the paws. He is such a bed hog and has a few times nearly pushed me off my bed. He also is a sock thief, that I now hide my socks from him and gave him sock to play with. I am so glad that Furbae helped me get him because things have definitely improved for me since then.
