chester

& phyllis

My husband and I started to look at rescue sites about 3 years after our Lakeland terrier passed away at age 15.  I first saw Chester on the Ladner landing Facebook group and was immediately drawn to him.  Not what I thought I was looking for, a smallish non shedding lap dog! We agreed to foster him on his arrival to Canada from Qatar.  Despite settling into our home very well I was concerned that he was too large for me to handle so I allowed him to be adopted to another home.  Within a week that adoption failed and I was asked by Fur Bae to foster him again.  When he arrived back to us we were all so happy to be together.  My daughter said “mom, this is the universe speaking to you.  Listen!”  We listened, sealed the adoption and are very happy with our decision.  He has learned so much...the cat is off limits, grass is good to walk on, the rain will not hurt you.  He’s learning leash walking, coming when called, how to greet people politely.  He’s still afraid of the dark and timid of other dogs, both I’m sure a result of having to fend for himself on the streets.  In time we are sure he will relax in those situations.  I know however that we will never be able to keep him from chasing squirrels! Fur Bae has been very supportive during and after the adoption.  I would definitely recommend them.
